There are opportunities for players at all levels Juniors-Mites. Each tournament team works a little differently in terms of team selection. Some will be comprised of all Jr. Titan players while others will select players from the entire area. Some are invitation only while others will have openings for interested players. Movember Charity Event
Last modified on 2009-12-03 17:55:03 GMT . .
Giving back to the community is part of the Junior experience. Kudos to all of the Titan Juniors that participated in the Movember charity event. The idea for Movember was sparked in 2003 over a few beers in Melbourne, Australia. The guys behind it joked about 80s fashion and decided it was time to bring the “moustache” back. In order to justify their Mos (Australian slang for moustache), they used their new looks to raise money for prostate cancer research… never dreaming that facial hair would ultimately lead to a global movement that would get men talking about a taboo subject – their health.
A Mo Bro starts Movember – the month formerly known as November – clean shaven, and grows a moustache all month long, garnering support from friends and family in the form of donations. What’s more, a Mo Bro is a walking billboard for the cause as his new look opens the door for him to talk about cancers affecting men – making the moustache a symbol, much like the pink ribbon is for breast cancer. Each Movember culminates in a Gala Partè in major cities around the globe where Mo Bros dress up to match their Mo, channeling the likes of Tom Selleck, Gandhi and Ron Burgandy, vying for the ultimate accolade: Man of Movember.
While growing a Mo is left to the guys, Mo Sistas (women who support their guys) form an important part of Movember by recruiting Mo Bros, helping to raise funds and attending the highly anticipated Gala Partés.

Tim Higgins featured in USA Junior Hockey Magazine by Steve Stein for the November 2009 edition New Jersey Junior Titans team captain Tim Higgins has been given his marching orders by head coach Dustin DePalma. “Coach wants me to be tough on the team, to make sure our practices are more physical and harder than our games,” Higgins said. “After all, you play the way you practice.” The 6-foot, 175-pound left wing grinder has gladly accepted the leadership role. He’s never been a captain – or assistant captain – in his hockey career, but he’s always wanted to wear a “C” or “A” on his sweater. “The best way to be a leader,” he said, “is to work hard.” DePalma is confident that Higgins, 19, can handle the captain’s duties. “Tim epitomizes what our program is all about,” DePalma said. “He has many good qualities.” This is Higgins’ second year with the Junior Titans. He helped the team earn a berth in the Junior B national tournament last season. Higgins said he decided to play junior hockey after a four-year career at Manasquan (N.J.) High School because he thought it would be the best path to his ultimate goal of playing college hockey. “When I graduated from high school, I didn’t know if I was ready for college hockey,” he said. “I am now.” This will be Higgins’ final season with the Junior B level Junior Titans. If he doesn’t play in college next year, Higgins said, he’d like to play Junior A hockey. Higgins is taking classes at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, N.J., focusing on criminal justice, while he plays for the Junior Titans.
