Juniors Finish Regular Season—Prepare for Playoffs

The Titans Junior team finished their regular season of MJHL league play this weekend with a home and home against the Met League leading Central Penn Panthers.

Saturday the team traveled to Regency Ice Rink in Lancaster PA. The Titans opened up the scoring early in the first with a goal by Sergey Moiseyev assisted by Mike Kosinski and Joe Guinta. Matt Armenti followed with the teams second goal with Ken Yasenchock and Pat Branagan getting the assists.  Timmy Higgins would get the third goal of the period with Bob Deatrick and Joe Guinta assisting to take a 3-0 lead at the end of the first period.  The Second period began with the Panthers scoring on the power play to close the gap, but the Titans were sharp and remained focused on their goal.  Mike Kosinski was sprung on a breakaway during on a great pass by Nate Thiemann, Andrew Anello on the second.  The Panthers would score again later in the period to end it with the Titans leading 4-2.  The third period saw a lot of back and forth action with both teams getting scoring chances.  The Panthers were pressing but  the Titans held, as neither team would find the back of the net in the third period.  The Titans would get the win 4-2. Justin Woytanowski was solid in goal for the Titans today stopping 31 of 33 shots.

Sunday was back at home for the Jr. Titans. This would be the final game of the regular season and the Titans wated to head into the playoffs with a strong effort. Once again, the Titans opened up the scoring with Pat Dwyer getting the first goal with assists going to Cameron Bregenzer and James Ryerse.  The Panthers remained scoreless to give the Titans the lead 1-0 at the end of the first. The second period would see the Panthers score on the power play early in to tie the game.  The period would end 1-1. The Panthers tallied again in the third period to take the lead but Timmy Higgins would score shortly thereafter with an assist by Bob Deatrick to even it up. However, the Panthers responded a minute later to retake the lead.  The Titans pressed as the minutes counted down and pulled goalie Jeff Holbrook for the extra attacker, but could not find the back of the net and the game ended with the Panthers getting the win. Jeff Holbrook was in net for the Titans and would see 43 shots, while the Titans put 34 shots on the Panthers goalies.

The Titans finish the regular season with 54 points and a regular season record of 25-12-0-4 and secure 2^nd place in the MJHL Dowd Division and a bye in the first round of playoffs which will begin March 5-7.  Second round series will take place March 12-14 with the Titans facing the highest seeded first round winner–Stay tuned.
