As a player, split time between defense, forward and goaltender throughout career.
Played youth hockey for various clubs in NJ, including Midget AA for the Essex County Chiefs and
Junior hockey for the NJ Golden Blades. One of six from NJ selected to attend midget elite junior Olympic camp in Colorado Springs (1982).

Four year varsity player at Tottenville H.S., 1979-1983. Team won four consecutive regular season titles and three post season championships, including a runner up finish in the NY State Championships in 1982. Selected as SIIHL best forward and MVP in 1983. Played college hockey at SUNY Brockport as a goaltender. Set school record for most saves in a single game (68) in 1986, a record that still stands in 2009.
